I'm Alive
but barely breathing. I have about 15 minutes before I have to get on the road to go to my AWESOME new job! It's really the best job ever. I drove home bawling because it is a lot harder to leave an awesome job, amazing friend and adorable cute little apartment. It breaks breaks breaks my heart, but I'm still moving!
The house is disgusting! How is it that one person can have SO MUCH STUFF. It's incrediable how much stuff I have, and believe me, I have been ruthless about what to keep and what to get toss. I'm pretty sure that I have chucked the majority of my stuff, but I'm still left with so much crap.
Ok, so it's mostly cloths shoes kitchen and books, but I AM NOT GETTING RID OF ANY IT.
I love my shoes, and I did part with a lot of them, but I held on to a lot of shoes. Packing is hard, and it's a pain.
I don't have a lot of time. Saturday my sister is coming up to load up and load into storage. Then I have to come back into the city finish cleaning take the last load and the cat. Then go to a show Saturday night, and attend an important family bbq sunday afternoon, THEN go to my first Waltz rehearsal. Um, when am I going to do the walkthrough? Do you think my landlord will make me pay for a week if we do it NEXT weekend? Do I have to be in the walkthrough? All these questions. questions. questions.
So the next couple of days just seem like a lot of driving, a lot of miserableness, and lack of sleep. I hope that my age hasn't caught up with me, and that I can still manage to produce in tough stressful times.

Searching for Comfortable in the Uncomfortable
I'm really surprised with how lazy I have become during unemployment. My concept of "time" is all off. I find myself saying things, "I'll put my laundry away later because I have tons of time. Then three days later my laundry is sitting in the basket and it keeps getting transfered from bed to basket to bed to basket, and each time I say to myself - it's ok I have tons of time!
It amazes me how productive I am when every moment of my day has an accountable task and the moment that I don't have anything to do the amount of stress piles up on my wee brain, and I start to buckle and beg for the internet to save me.
I need to get used to this lifestyle. This is the lifestyle that New York will bring me. Is it really difficult to find a lucrative, challenging, mind engaging and flexible job that will allow me to sing on broadway? Yes, yes it is. I have not given up. I will continue to work. I will continue to pursue contracting positions. I will continue to work hard and do what it takes to eat. to save money. to get to New York. I will do what ever it takes, but I have to remind myself that it takes time. I'm all about this instant gratification, and it takes time.
It's difficult to balance the different opportunities that comes across my desk because I am all about instant gratification, and so if a job comes up for 12.50 an hour for the next 5 months - I am inclined to take it, but NO. Take the time to find something that works. See - this is stressful. I can hardly even write about it anymore.

I almost killed a pedestrian today.
And if I had, he would have TOTALLY deserved it! I’m serious…
I’m juggling so many balls these days, and it’s causing the huge amounts of stress. This morning I woke up with a laundry list of items that I must accomplish before I get to work today:
I had to pack stuff for the snow, fit it in the car, realize that it’s gonna show in the car so I can’t have it on the street all day, so I have to drive to work, where am I going to park?, oh, don’t forget the sewing machine, then I have to make sure I have my resume and my headshot, my make –up, directions to the new audition location, send my homework in on time, and coffee!! BRING THE COFFEE!
Once I finally settled into the car, feeling extremely aggravated, I drove off to work with my friend and her sister in the car. We were headed down Columbus Street, it’s 8:00am in the morning, we’re amongst the San Francisco commuter traffic and some little dude begins to stroll into the traffic. ARE YOU KIDDING?!?!?!
Seriously, dude, you can’t just step into the street into on coming traffic just because you have this neat little orange vest with light reflectors dressing up your outfit. I saw that exact same vest at Wal-mart the other day, and you don’t see me walking around the streets of San Francisco wearing it around thinking I OWN the place…cause you don’t. I have a car. Car hits person. Car wins! I trump you! I don’t care about your stupid little vest especially since you’re driving around a big truck delivering bakery goods! I know my rights, and I KNOW that I don’t have to yield to a bakery deliverer wearing a neon vest!
Ok! So THERE!

I'm done.
I’m done. I’m done. I’m done.
Yesterday, I finished the procrastinating project, and it took an entire evening to come down from that stressful few days. I still have a lot to do, but at least it feels more manageable! Kinko’s, however, you are rivaling with Target in my disdain for lack of customer support!
Part of the stressful project entailed a huge amount of scanning pictures! Sure! No problem, but my resource, I discovered too late, only scanned in black and white. Crap! I’ll buy my own scanner, no, I’ll go to Kinko’s!!!!
I left work, and started walking to a Kinko’s located about ten minutes away. On my way there, I found a closer Kinko’s. I walked in and I stood at the counter, and waited, and waited, and waited and I waited. The guy behind the counter looked at me, and he kept looking at me. Then he kept ho-humming on his computer. I then hit the little bell incessantly while saying, very loudly, “How long does a person have to stand here making eye contact with you before you step away from solitaire and help?”
Ok, so I didn’t really say that, but he came over to me, finally, and said, “Do you need some help?”
I replied, “No, you remind me of someone, and I’d like to just stand here and look at you.”
Ugh, I didn’t really say that either, but I soon learned that this particular Kinko’s did not have self service scanning. So, I had to continue on my way to the far away Kinko’s. By the way, it’s raining, and I don’t have an umbrella. So, I arrived at the far away Kinks, and I asked for the self-service scanning.
Yeah right, sista ~ it’s broken. This know-it- all rep, at least, was much more helpful then the other counter rep, and he called the even farther away location for me to make sure they had the scanners over there before I hauled my cookies all the way over there.
What fortune! They do, and Kinko’s in the financial district functions like Starbucks. Thus, there is one at almost every street corner! After 30 minutes of scanning, 12 dollars later and drenched in the rain, I finished the scanning project! Whew!
Now with that project checked off the list, I managed to put away all my laundry and work on my monologue. Thankfully, my mood has vastly improved! This is also due to the fact that I am so jamming out to the new Hanson 10 year anniversary Middle of Nowhere Acoustic CD that I got yesterday for Christmas!
Who can seriously be in a bad mood and listen to Hanson? Not ME! It is part of the reason I love them so much. Please remind me of this the next time I get like this.

The Thing About Stress -
for me -
is that I keep adding things to the list of things to do instead of checking them off, and the list gets crowded with heaping and heaping piles of things to do. Some of these items include – change the pictures in the frames, organize all the pictures on your computer, optimize your pictures for web, transfer your itunes to your mac, paint the cabinet in the kitchen, hang the pictures in the kitchen, etc. Don’t get me wrong these are all important things to do, but these items get mixed in with: go to the grocery store, do your laundry, memorize your monologue for the biggest audition of your life to date that’s on Saturday, finish scanning the pictures for a freelance project you have been procrastinating on for well - long enough to not be done, and the materials are needed by your client and oh, I don’t know –clean your house so it’s livable? Wait, which list should winter cleaning/organizing go on? Important or not as important? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, retreat-retreat-retreat screams my heart, and my overwhelmed self crawls into bed at 8:45pm, and rocks herself to sleep once she has discovered she is referring to herself in third person!
This really is not way to live, and I usually do OK when I’m busy. I find that I am more motivated to accomplish important tasks that are on deadlines. However, being overwhelmed does not bode well for me, as my brain turns completely into Milkyways. (I figure if my brain is going to be mushy, I might as well pick a sweet and tasty image!)
So, I find myself saying things like, “When do I stop feeling like I have to count my petties?” Instead of saying, “When do I stop feeling like I have to count my pennies?” Oh, and worst of all, I can’t make coffee. TWO DAYS IN A ROW – I have messed this up. This. Is. A. Big. Deal.
Yesterday, I made a pot of boiling water sans the coffee. Laughing at my idiocy, I poured the already boiling water through the pot again, but this time I added the coffee. Well, my brand-new traveling mug didn’t like having twice boiled water in it, but the cup itself could handle it – just not the rubbery bottom that started bubbling up. (sigh)
Then today, I made sure that the coffee pot worked correctly, but I couldn’t get the proportions of sugar and milk correctly in the cup. Oh Lordie, this can’t be a good omen for the day. Please have mercy on me.

I'm stressed
I know I should not be for a multiple of reasons, but the main reason I should not be stressed is the fact that it is ALL MY FAULT! BEVERLEY! STOP procrastinating.
What’s happened to me?
It’s ok, I’ve managed to deal with my stress levels extremely well. When things get to overwhelming, I just crawl into bed at 8:45pm and go to sleep. Hopefully the amount of work disappears into thin air, and my stress level will be lifted! Try it.. let me know how it goes.

House...it's effecting me
Please don't take my silence as a lack of topics. Plenty has happened, but I have desperately clung on to my free time and used it only for House. I used the fact that I need a break as an excuse, but really, I'm just covering up my addiction. I know, it's PATHETIC, but I am getting punished in other ways.
For example -
I went to the grocery store yesterday, and took home three brown bags. (Ugh, did they really have to get rid of plastic, I mean REALLY….) Two were excruciatingly heavy and one was light. The light handle broke.
What does it all mean?
It means that God hates me, and wants me to drag two heavy bags in one hand, while clutching the lightest bag with my other free hand and arm. I'm scrambling for me keys thinking - (so, this is what lighting bolts feel like. Ouch. Ok, yes, I'll get off my lazy ass and work on my homework, house and life. ) I guess it's funny watching someone wince in pain trying to get into their apartment in the rain.

Oh, my Brain
So I decided to heed Johnathan's advice, and draw you a picture. I've never ever considered myself an illustration artist at any capacity, until, I busted this out. I like to call it...."My Brain"

I wanted to give you a visual aid of what my brain looks and feels like. I started with the eclipse on the right, but I realized that the mix mashed frantic display of color rendered a bit too neatly in the gradient overlay provided by photoshop. I needed something that looked like a colorful heap of mush. Hence, the wonderfully illustrated eclipse on the left.
So, there are a few local restaurants that sell modern art. This counts, right? I've seen those pictures being sold for $1,000 dollars at least. I bet this picture of my brain would speak to someone!!!! Oh, the pipe dreams.
Well, my parents are flying in tonight, but won't be arriving until midnight. I'm a little panicked because there is still so much to do. I have a house to clean, groceries to buy and three pie crusts to bake. I'm a little concerned because I don't have that much time. I wanted to not have to cook tomorrow because I wanted to spend as much time with my family as possible. Well, it might have to be in my tiny little apartment, but at least we will all be together.
I'm cooking so much food. I'm concerned it is going to be too much, but I can't help it! Ham and Turkey!!! It's sososoososososoososo good. Luckily, I have two friends in the building who are letting me use BOTH of their stoves. YAY! I'm probably only going to need one. So that I can cook them both. I'm going to send Pasha to the other stove, so, I can have my darling kitchen all to myself. It's going to be so good.

Flames of Target
Target shopping on Sunday at 1:30pm is hell on earth.
I should have known better. I did re-read my last Target post, but yet I still braved it. First of all, WHY WHY WHY WHY does it take 20 minutes to get to a Target from San Francisco? Yes, the real estate is probably very expensive, but people shop at Target!!!! People are going to spend all their money at this lovely store because it has EVERYTHING! You need a camera? got it. Mossimo cloths? got it. Hair shampoo? check. Box of cereal? yes. Birthday cards? birthday presents? office supplies? nice furniture for bedroom bathroom or kitchen? How about some cheap furniture? OH! Don't forget all the stuff you need for your car! Tv's, movies, books! What's your store - Target!
Sometimes, it's not worth the battle.
When I arrived, the zoo at the parking lot deceived me because sometimes parking lots can be super busy, but no one is in the store. NOT THIS TIME. I get my cart outside with my special list. Pasha and I are hosting a Thanksgiving dinner at my house with my parents and some other friends this year. In preparation, I wrote out a list. The special list included all of the items on the menu, and then I wrote out all the food items we needed in two categories: Early and Fresh. All of the early items were purchased yesterday, and the fresh items will be purchased right before Thanksgiving. Next to each item, is the name of the store that it will be purchased. This list spanned over two pages.
I put the list at the front of my cart, and put the LAST BOTTLE OF Biolage volumizer shampoo in the cart with the conditioner next to it. The isles were so packed one person could barley walk down let alone a person and a cart. So, to get the toothpaste- I put the cart at the end of the isle and walked half way down. When I got back to my cart, GONE! Shampoo, conditioner AND MY SPECIAL LIST! WHAT THE HELL!?!?!?!?! Cursing to get a new cart, I noticed there were no more carts left for the taking, apparently this means free range. If you need a cart, and people have stuff in it... WHO CARES?! No one's hands are directly on it..it MUST be available for taking. GRRRRRRRRRR.
Luckily, I printed out two copies of the list. One for me, and one for Pasha.
I swear, today, I hate Target.

Stress
For some reason, I can not find a happy medium with my time management. I'm either bored out of my mind, or I'm a frantic can't stop to drink water type of busy. Is there anyone out there that just says, "Ah, I worked very hard for X amount of hours, and now I can spend the rest of my stress-free mind hanging out with the swarming amount of people that can never be disappointed? Instead, I fear the fatal look of disappointment, and I say YES to EVERYTHING. It has gotten me into so much trouble..especially because "I don't want to" isn't a good excuse. I am positive that if I say, " I don't want to," I'm signing my death certificate.
It is very stressful, and my life feels very controlled.
So, I need to ask you... if you a friend asks you to hang out, but you don't want to, and you don't want to hurt their feelings. WHAT DO YOU SAY? My friend says, "hey, let's go wine tasting," and huge amounts of stress and pressure ensues.
Speaking of Stress, I need to re-focus my attentions on work right now, but answer me
this. How do you say NO, and not hurt people's feelings?
